Core Concepts of GIS and Cartography

Tuesday, September 18, 2018

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Hazelbaker Hall (Wells E159)
This workshop introduces you to core concepts of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). We will cover common spatial data types and formats, software options, and key cartographic elements. This is a great place to get an overview of the field, and is designed for both those totally new to cartography/GIS and those who want to dive a bit deeper into cartographic conventions. This will be a lecture-style workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring any maps they are currently working on, or any maps they want to discuss. Presented by Theresa Quill.
