Our graduate students are essential to advancing IDAH’s mission and strategic initiatives. Without their expertise and contributions, we are unable to run most of our programs for including project consultations, our HASTAC program and our Spring Symposium. We value our graduate students and recognize the importance for them to advocate for fair and equitable wages and work environments. We will support them as they strike for their well-being. We will not terminate contracts or retaliate against our graduate students during this time of protest.
While we can't represent the opinions of a broadly diverse faculty, we can emphasize our personal belief that graduate student labor and participation are at the heart of IDAH expertise. Our decisions about mentoring, advising, employment, or recommendations will not be affected by decisions about whether or not to participate in a strike. We are here to support graduate students and their research, as well as to acknowledge and fairly compensate the contributions they make to our center.
The IDAH team asks that your consult take place at least 4 weeks in advance of any deadlines for your requested pedagogical intervention, classroom visit, or grant submission. If you have concerns about this timeline, please email idah@indiana.edu so that we can offer alternative options.
